The idea

(Version FR ici)

Let’s launch this blog with some introductions: where does this app come from.

We’re a team of two: a developper (Amadour) and a designer (👋) working from Paris. It all began seven years ago when my first child was born. My wife kept notes of feedings, diapers and other details in a small notebook.

A few weeks later, these notes were written down in the notes app of her phone; she simply had it on hand more often than the notebook+pen combo. It was difficult for me not to see the opportunity for an app better suited to baby activities logging. A visit to the App Store indicated that none of the available apps at this time seemed convincing enough for daily use, and seemed too complicated compared to what I had in mind..

Some late nights were then spent outlining key features, and mocking up some hopefully better suited screens. As coding is foreign territory to me, these ideas didn’t get much farther than images stored in a folder, buried in a drawer.

Two years later, I met Amadour while working on the mobile app of a big company. During a lunch break, he said that he would be interested by “working on an app of his own, less complex, from A to Z and launch it on the store”. The images resurfaced from the drawer and after a few chats, we rolled up our sleeves and started working.

This side project has known a few idle times since then, but a sustained effort last year allowed us to launch the app mid-December. Of course, there are still a lot to implement to be on par with what the App Store offers today. But we’re very happy and proud to have been able to put the initial idea into the hands of parents who use Le Baby today.
