It’s a memory helper for parents who want or need to record and review their baby’s feedings, diaper changes or sleeps (among others).
This might sound like too much from the outside, but when a baby comes into your life and takes away your sleep, part of your brain goes missing too. As we explain in this blog post, your days become a big blur, and having a record of what happened comes really handy.
Le Baby is an app for iOS delivering an intuitive user experience, packed with thoughtful details making it very efficient. For example, it’s possible to select entries, adjust values and time with just one thumb, even with the largest devices. At an average of 10 uses per day, little touches like this add up and truly make a difference.
Le Baby respects user privacy by considering data added to an app by users is their property, and that neither the app nor the business publishing the app should own them without an explicit agreement. Sure, the time and content of a diaper isn’t the most sensitive information there is, but written notes can be very intimate. This is why we built Le Baby so we can’t access data from our end.
What’s the use of a baby tracker? When a baby turns up, fatigue and repetition blur everything. Some parents adapt easily, while others find it more difficult to go with the flow. Reviewing what has happened through a journal can ease their worries.
What activities can it record? Bottles, breastfeeding, diaper changes, weight, sleep, and notes.
Is it possible to share a journal over two phones? Yes, between iOS devices. Built with encryption, it respects our users privacy.
Does it work with imperial units? Yes. In regions of the world where it is the official unit system, it defaults to them. Additionally, a single tap on a volume or weight value (when adding entries) toggles from metrics to imperial units on the fly, if need be.
Does it work on Android? No. We’re focusing on building the best experience on iOS first, and will consider other platforms when the business has matured.
How private is Le Baby user data? The app doesn’t collect data from its customers. User data is only stored on the device, on Apple servers for journal sharing (encrypted) or device backup, there is no data transmission to a third party service. The user can export a journal in a csv format for reuse. Therefore, user data is as private as the device, Apple servers, and the exported csv files can be.

Slowly and surely.
We’re a team of two in Paris, a designer and a developer who love to build best of class products. Quality over quantity and great user experience over feature galore is what we aim for.
This project was bootstrapped with our time and savings, and took no funding. We have complete control and no financial pressure on our roadmap.
Le Baby has been translated in 9 langages by native speakers with parenting experience: French, English, German, Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese, Italian, and Portuguese.
What’s the business model? Le Baby can be installed and used for free (all features available), for up to 200 entries. An in app purchase lifts this limitation, and is our single revenue stream. We’re not harvesting and/or reselling our users’ data, or placing ads in the app to make money. More on user privacy here.
How did this app started? A blog post explains it, but in short one of us had a baby and thought the current offering on the App Store had room for improvement. Both of us wanted to build and distribute an app of our own, after having designed and built apps for clients. Quietly released two years ago, regularly improved since, it has gained great feedback from parents around the world.
What are examples of the attention to details in the app? All controls are in the bottom part of the screen to allow for one handed use, 11 color themes with matching dark mode for personalization, extra-dark theme for preventing dazzling in obscurity, new entry values for volume and size default to last record, phone reboot proof timers, and more.

Putting our app in the hands of someone who used another baby tracker, and looking at his or her face is a great way to evaluate Le Baby’s value.
Less is more. Le Baby is straightforward, generous and minimal. It looks a bit dry at first, but as with all good tools, it shines when it’s used multiple times a day. Its simplicity enables very quick interactions (as you can see on this diaper and bottle demos), a big plus when you’re constantly a bit overwhelmed.
Elbow grease. This efficiency is possible because we made the effort to build our own solutions for adjusting values and time, rather than relying on standard components from iOS like most other apps do. While iOS components’ versatility is undeniable, they demand more precision in gestures, in taps and in swipes. Our buttons and cursors are larger, easier to reach, accepting a coarser gesture precision.
Respecting privacy. Le Baby is one of the few apps not transferring user data on a server. Every app asking for an account to be created does. More and more people are sensible to this, especially when it comes to their intimate life. We’ve met parents who told us they were hesitant of using apps because they assumed they wouldn’t control who would see their data. So we think we made the right choice for our users.

Quoted and translated from France App Store reviews.
“Simple, intuitive and bug free! This app is a joy to use. New dad for a week now, the app really does me a great service. Really set appart from the other apps that are far too complex.”
“Excellent application! Simple, fast and efficient! The only thing missing is sharing for the 2nd parent, and it gets the 5th star 😉 And kudos for handling private data. This is so rare that it needs to be highlighted!”
“Simple and easy to use application. Good tracking for bottles or breastfeeding, sleep and diaper change. It’s possible to add several babies, neat when you have twins :) Good introduction to the app, we’ll see with time but for now it’s validated.”
“Great app! I‘ve been using it for the past 2.5 weeks and I‘m loving the simplicity of the app. Most apps have too many additional features, which I didn‘t need. Breastfeeding tracker, diaper changes and sleep timer - fantastic!”

The fastest way is to get Le Baby on the App Store, for free. The app is fast to install (5Mb), and no account creation needed. All features are included, so you can see how effortless it is to add a bottle entry, and launch breastfeeding or sleep timers.
If you want to fast forward and browse charts for a 10 weeks old journal, download this csv file from an iPhone, open it, tap the share icon, and select Le Baby to import it in the app. As it has over 200 entries, you’ll need to create another journal from the settings of you want to keep testing how to add entries.
