Le Baby – journal sharing

If journal sharing isn’t working properly, please update iOS to the latest version.

Journal synchronisation relies on iCloud ; it’s not available for Android devices (Le Baby isn’t distributed on this platform). If you have trouble sending or receiving journal updates, check the Apple System status page.

The exchange of data is strictly private, only participants can have access to it. It is end-to-end encrypted, so it is technically impossible for us, Apple, or your data provider to read your data. We can’t know who’s using Le Baby, and we can’t know who is sharing which journal with whom.

To invite participants to a journal, touch the “share” icon in journal settings. Once you’ve chosen the app to send the invitation with, you will have to select participants. If you use an app other than iOS Mail or Messages—such as WhatsApp, Messenger or Signal—you will have to pick someone from your Contacts to get to the next screen dedicated to the app of your choice. Not ideal, but it’s there’s no better way for now. You will then be able to pick contacts from those referenced in this chosen app, and to finish your invitation.

An invited participant cannot invite other people in turn, only the person who initiated the sharing can do so.

When a participant joins a journal, the baby's name, the journal theme and entries are sent over. Actions on entries (add, edit and delete) are synchronized between participants as soon as possible.

⚠️ Journal sharing doesn’t carry over the purchase you may have made to get unlimited entries to invited participants. If you wish to share your in app purchase, you have to choose the one compatible with Apple’s Family Sharing program; everything is detailed here.

When a participant edits the journal name or theme, these changed are not shared with the other participants.

To join a journal, Le Baby must be installed on the device, the participant’s iCloud account must be enabled, and both Le Baby and iCloud Drive must be enabled in the iCloud account settings.

To stop sharing a journal with a participant, tap the "share" icon in the journal settings. You can edit access by participant, or for all at once. The journal will then disappear from all devices in the affected participants' iCloud accounts. Similarly, if you delete a journal that you shared with other participants, it will be deleted from all devices linked to their iCloud accounts, as well as from devices linked to your own iCloud account.

To leave a journal you’ve been invited to, tap the “Remove me“ icon in the journal settings. It will be deleted from all devices linked to your iCloud account.
